RICHMOND, Va. – VCU Vice President and Director of Athletics Ed McLaughlin will serve on a pair of vital college athletics committees in the coming years.

McLaughlin, who has guided VCU's Athletics Department since 2012, will begin serving a four-year tenure on the NCAA Nominating Committee on Sept. 1. The Nominating Committee facilitates the process to appoint representatives to all Division I Council Committees (non-Council positions), all Division I committees and Division I vacancies on Association-wide committees.

In addition, McLaughlin will begin a three-year appointment on the Division I-AAA Athletic Directors Association Executive Committee on July 1. Division I-AAA includes all NCAA Division I members that do not sponsor football. The I-AAA Athletic Directors Association aims to advance initiatives common to its membership.

During McLaughlin's tenure, VCU has captured 22 conference championships and sent 38 teams and individuals into NCAA competition. In 2017, McLaughlin was named a recipient of the Under Armour Athletics Director of the Year Award by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). He recently finished a two-year term as chair of the Atlantic 10 Council of Athletic Directors.
