Counting down the Top 20 Moments of 2013-14: Golf takes Atlantic 10 title in dramatic fashion

RICHMOND, Va. – On Friday, August 22, the VCU women’s soccer team will take the field and open up the 2014-15 athletic calendar for #RamNation.

That date is less than a week away. With that in mind, VCUathletics.com is unveiling the top 20 moments from last year to get all of #RamNation ready for yet another exciting year for the Black & Gold.

Today, #3 is brought to us by the VCU golf team.
#3 – Champs – VCU women’s tennis rolls to second straight Atlantic 10 title
VCU and Richmond combined to make 2,227 shots during the Atlantic 10 Championship, but it was a single stroke that gave the Rams their first Atlantic 10 title.

Senior Rocky Khara (Sebring, Fla.) made par on 18 and placed second overall to steer VCU (+26) to a one-stroke victory over Richmond (+27) in the 2014 A-10 Men's Golf Championship at TPC Tampa Bay.

It's VCU's first conference championship since 2009, when the Rams won the last of their eight Colonial Athletic Association titles. It is VCU's fifth league championship under Matt Ball, who was named A-10 Coach of the Year following Sunday's victory.
